A fleeting moment on Degraves Place, where colour bleeds from brickwork and a
lone figure strides through Melbourne’s mural-clad underbelly.
High + low art by now + then creative collaborators– Ann and Kim. Two friends who met in the 90s via street zine publishing, community activism and pre-gentrification share houses in West End, Brisbane.
In HL/NT, they unite their distinct artistic practices. Ann’s vibrant abstract paintings represent five years of exploration in the studio. Kim's photos embrace fleeting moments captured by her mobile phone.
Their works collectively embody both high and low art, highlighting a shared interest in the beautiful ordinary, intersecting connections, daily activism, survival, and wonder.
