Billy’s work centres on light—its journey through the emotional and physical layers of his paintings. As it moves through glazes of colour, shape, and varnish, bouncing off the ground and filtering back out, the light shifts with the viewer’s movement. This living interplay between artwork and observer is, for Billy, what gives a painting its voice.

His practice is grounded in decades of experience as a scenic artist for theatre and film, shaped by a long meditation practice, a fascination with perception, contemporary physics, plant sentience, and literature. At heart, his art offers a quiet but insistent call to kindness and love in our daily lives.
