About the Space

A pottery teacher showing a student ceramic glaze test tiles at Field Trip Pottery School in Paddington, Brisbane.

Field Trip is an independent, family-run art gallery and pottery school in the heart of Paddington, Brisbane.

Founded by ceramic artist Clairy Laurence, with niece Libby Usher leading our hand building classes, the school is part of a family history in pottery that spans generations.

Our classes are as much about enjoying the process as they are about learning pottery. Many of our students return term after term, and over time we've built a community of people who genuinely enjoy being here.

As part of Field Trip Gallery, our pottery school is also connected to Brisbane's wider arts community. With exhibitions happening upstairs, students are regularly exposed to the work of practising artists, with opportunities to get involved and even exhibit their own work.
