Intermediate Oil Painting with Danielle O'Brien | 6 Week Course
Join Brisbane artist Danielle O'Brien for a six-week intermediate oil painting course at Field Trip. Designed for students with some prior oil painting experience, or those ready to continue on from Danielle’s beginner classes.
Full price per course is $450 per person.

This course is designed for students with prior experience in oil painting who are looking for guidance and dedicated studio time within a supportive and social environment.
Across six relaxed sessions, students will have the opportunity to work independently at their own pace while receiving technical support and direction from Danielle. Whether beginning a new painting or continuing an existing work in progress, the class is structured to allow flexibility while encouraging the development of technique and process.
These sessions are best suited to students who already have a basic understanding of oil painting materials and methods. Beginners who are completely new to oil painting are encouraged to enrol in Danielle’s Introduction to Oil Painting course.
Students are welcome to explore their own subject matter and approach, with support available around composition, colour mixing, paint handling, glazing, scumbling, alla prima techniques, and resolving finished works.
Materials included:
Oil paint
Solvent
Paper
Canvas board
Stretched canvas
Easels and brushes supplied for use during class
Students to bring:
Reference images or source material, or an existing work in progress if continuing a current painting
An apron, if preferred

About Danielle:
Danielle O'Brien is a Brisbane-based oil painter and represented artist at Field Trip Gallery. She studied a Bachelor of Visual Arts in Toowoomba, where she trained in traditional oil painting techniques, before making Brisbane her home over 25 years ago.
Since then, she has exhibited regularly, run a gallery, taught with Hands on Art and TAFE Queensland, worked with a range of Brisbane creatives, and twice been selected as a finalist in the Brisbane Portrait Prize.
Danielle is a passionate educator who loves sharing practical painting skills in a supportive and approachable way.
